Description:

TRCA is designing a series of Indigenous outdoor gathering spaces co-developed with the Williams Treaty First Nation (WTFN) communities (Scugog, Hiawatha, and Curve Lake First Nations) and guided by 4 Directions of Conservation Consulting Services, Stefan Bolliger Associates Inc., and SpruceLab Inc.

Together, these spaces are known as the Morningside Legacy Project.

Implemented in phases over time as funding becomes available, this project will feature five stations interpreting First Nation history and cultural significance.

Funding has been secured to implement the first station, the subject of this RFSQ, with the generous support of TD Bank Group. Station 1 is known as the Introductory Story and will serve to welcome visitors on First Nation land. The concept for Station 1 is a sculptural art and gathering space that will tell the introductory story of First Nations history by featuring the WTFN Treaty mounted on a large granite stone, along with a seating area for storytelling.

Aligned with the strategic goals of both the City of Toronto and TRCA, the outdoor gathering spaces at Morningside Park will foster shared learning experiences and celebration of the natural and Indigenous cultural history of the area.
